MASTERCLASSES

DJW Talent offers weekly, studio based Masterclasses for actors aged 16+, who are interested in building up their experience, and expanding their skills and knowledge of working in Theatre, Television and Film. 

​

Our Masterclass programme features a diverse range of dedicated workshops and Q&A's with industry professionals, designed to enhance emerging talent, and help actors improve their skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. These workshops include training in areas such as audition technique, Character Development, Scene building, Scene Mapping, Blocking, Physical approaches to creativity, Beats, Shifts, Actions, Units and we offer advice and guidance to those looking to apply for Drama School and/or clear routes to market and strategies for commercial impact.

Confidence building and professional development continues to be at the forefront of our company ethos. Our Masterclass sessions are purposefully varied and positively challenging, whilst offering new experiences and a chance to develop a variety of techniques and skills, to prepare new talent and enhance established performers careers in the Entertainment Industry. â€‹

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

 

DANIEL-JOHN WILLIAMS

 

The DJW School of Acting was launched in 2015 with weekly acting classes for children and adults. From September 2024 DJW Talent will be hosting Masterclass Acting Workshops for adults (16+) with company founder Daniel-John Williams.

 

DJW Talent received GOLD certification from QA International for outstanding contributions to the industry (2015-2023)

 

Daniel-John is an actor | agent | acting coach | producer and has appeared in many THEATRE, FILM, MUSIC VIDEOS & TV SHOWS (comedy and drama) such as: Doctors, Casualty, Vera, Make Me Famous, Birds of a Feather, Looted, Redirected, Metroland, WeTibetans, STINE, LORE and various other projects.

He trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London and often found himself exploring the casting world from behind the table watching other actors try and land the role for projects in Theatre, TV, Film and Alternative Screen Platforms and even helped out in the West End Musical Theatre scene. With over 30 years in the industry Daniel-John has picked up some tips and tricks along the way.

Company Founder and Director, Daniel-John Williams continues to work in theatre, film and TV, bringing his extensive industry knowledge back to his actors and clients.

Over the years, Daniel-John has worked with actors around the world in a creative collaborative capacity but also preparing talent for countless TV, Film and Theatre projects, ranging from Comedy, Drama, Soaps, Commercial, Gaming, Online Shows (On Demand) and Factual Entertainment so when Daniel-John was asked to host a Masterclass for Dragons Den star, Sara Davies on the popular BBC Show Strictly Come Dancing, (Movie Week) he jumped at the chance. His methods seemed to help Sara (Princess Fiona) sail through to the next round. Daniel-John is no stranger to working with high profile talent and knows how to get the best out of actors by offering unique ways of approaching character and giving the talent that he works with, questions and scenarios to depend their understanding of the characters objectives. 

 

Daniel-John has had the pleasure of working with actors from Coronation Street, Shameless, Waterloo Road and actors from Peppa Pig to name a few. A proud member of the Tees Valley Screen Steering Group, an initiative set up by Northern Film + Media (North East Screen)

He was also accepted onto the Creative England Foundations Film & TV Programme 2022-2023 and also enjoys supporting BFI Academy Young Filmmakers  (2021-2023) by offering Masterclasses in Acting, Script and Character Development workshops.

 

Fresh out of drama school, Daniel-John worked closely with TV and Film Director John Dower (Eastenders, WolfBlood) on a project which was trialling new technologies for games, known as Project Nutal for an interactive game at Lionhead (XBOX) called Mylo & Kate.

 

Daniel-John produced and co-directed the feature length documentary, HOME 2020-2023: A film about love, passion, racing pigeons and what home means to people (North East Screen Reach Funded and Consulted by Jonny Tull at Tull Stories) and also produced a Channel4 Comedy Sparks through Couch Potato Film | North East Comedy HotHouse. 

 

In 2021 Daniel-John and Marc de Launay launched Nova Mundi Studios where a strong slate of projects have been developed and pitched. They are now speaking to commissioners and production companies regarding several ideas from FactEnt, Comedy, Drama, Scripted Feature Films and TV shows. 

 

Daniel-John was the casting director for multi-award winning Creative England Funded ‘A Six & Two Threes’ for Writer and Director Andy Berriman (Candle & Bell) Daniel-John was also casting director on 

BFI.Network short film ‘The Wilds’ | Taxi Tales for BBC and BFI.Network short film ‘Brother Nature’ for Award Winning Director Maxy Neil Bianco through Sea & Sky Pictures. Daniel-John is Executive Producer on a show currently in development for a possible Digital Comedy FactEnt Show for Channel4.

 

The Masterclass workshops at DJW Talent will be geared towards a focus on character development, breaking down a script with technique and craft at the core of everything we do. The sessions will also include casting strategies, creativity vs trade and preparation | presentation and professional approaches to memorable and standout performances along with unique planning for clear routes to market.

My mission is to create a clear route to market for the actors represented by DJW Talent and through the Masterclass training which I host, personally. The plan is to develop professional relationships, etiquettes and unique approaches to the industry using the methods I believe in. Gearing actors up for the wonderful world of theatre, television and film is a genuine passion of mine and putting talent in front of casting directors and producers then securing opportunities is where I get real industry satisfaction.''

Classes run for 3 hours. Participants should arrive 15 minutes before class starts.  You must be a Member and have paid your fees to access the Masterclass Programme. Dress code is smart/casual and comfortable. Free onsite parking.
